The Cows - Dawn O'Porter
"Women can’t keep complaining about how society treats them if they just take being told they’re wrong all the time and don’t react."๐๐๐ 2 out of 5 hearts!
Based in London, The Cows follows three women following the overnight viral fame one of them unwillingly finds themselves thrown into. This book is meant to be about women being themselves and not being ashamed of their decisions. I had heard good things about this book so I was very disappointed by how little I enjoyed it. I wanted to. But the storyline was just so ridiculous that it was hard to find it believable. From the out of nowhere death of a character to some of the so called "feminist" opinions, it was just hard to see this as anything other than fiction. The characters and the events simply could not be true. I definitely saw a very transparent outline of what this novel was meant to be about but while these were impressive concepts they were ultimately overshadowed by the plot. I want to give this author the benefit of the doubt and maybe give them another go before I write them off entirely but there are so many other books and authors on my list that I trust more so we'll see how that goes...
